Dorothy Schlaich Schneider, 82, of Loch Haven in Edgewater, died June 2 at the Severna Park Center, Genesis HealthCare, after a five-year illness.
Mrs. Schneider, who was known as "Dot," was born May 22, 1925, in Kingsport, Tenn., and graduated in 1943 from Eastern High School. She was a budget analyst for more than 20 years at the Bureau of the Census, U.S. Department of Commerce, where she was awarded a Bronze Medal for her achievements.
She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Edgewater and had been a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit and Mount Calvary Catholic Church, both in Forestville. She enjoyed Chesapeake Bay wildlife, travel, gardening and antiques.
On June 10, 1950, she married Vincent Charles Schneider, who died May 13, 2003. Surviving are one son, Glenn Charles Schneider of Edgewater; one daughter, Karlene Schneider Haines of Arnold; one sister, Alline Davis of Louisville, Ky.; and two grandsons. She was the daughter of the late Karl and Allie Mae Schlaich.
Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 11 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 515 Loch Haven Road, Edgewater. Burial will follow at 1 p.m. in the Maryland Veterans Cemetery at Cheltenham. Donations may be made to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, 6 Herndon Ave., Annapolis, MD 21403.
