D

orothy Sousa Sullivan of Annapolis, Md. passed away 11-6-14, surrounded by her family with her Rosary in her hand. She was born June 3, 1921 in Washington, DC to Roccardi and Ethel Morsonelli of Naples, Italy. Raised in a musical family, she was an accomplished keyboardist and the Grand-Niece of John Phillip Sousa. Her music was a great part of her life. She was preceded in death by her husband E. Gordon Hern and Lewis E. Sullivan as well as her granddaughter, Jodie Hohenstein. “Gigi” is survived by 2 daughters, 2 grandsons, 7 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandsons. She was a retired Federal worker, a member of St. James Sodality, Mt. Rainer Md. and a lifetime member of The American Legion, Post 131, Colmar Manor, Md. Dorothy was an active member of Our Lady of Perpetual Hope Catholic Church in Edgewater, Md. where she sang with several church and community choirs. The family would like to thank the entire staff of Heritage Harbour Heath and Rehabilitation Center in Annapolis, Md. for their loving care and family support. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to support the Holiday Celebration for the devoted staff of caregivers that cared for her like one of their own and are truly Angels on this earth. Contributions may be sent to Dottie Houchens, 2924 Southaven Dr. Annapolis, Md. 21401. Friends are invited to Dorothy's Life Celebration at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD on Sunday, November 9 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 515 Loch Haven Rd, Edgewater, MD on Monday, November 10 at 11am. Entombment Lakemont Memorial Gardens, Davidsonville.
