Dorothy Tompkins - Obituary

orothy “Dot” H. Tompkins, 77, of Ft. Washington, MD died Monday, November 3, 2008 at Ft. Washington Hospital from arteriosclerotic heart disease after years of declining health. Mrs. Tompkins was born on December 11, 1930 in Washington, DC to the late Bennie H. and Hazel G. Johnson. She graduated from Oxon Hill High School in 1948. She was a homemaker. She enjoyed spending time with her family. She liked gardening, crocheting, cooking and she loved to go out and dance. She was the beloved wife of the late George E. Tompkins, Jr.; mother of George E. Tompkins III of Ft. Washington, MD and Donald G. Tompkins of Montross, VA; sister of Louise Baicar of DE. She is also survived by four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to Mrs. Tompkins' Life Celebration at the GEORGE P. KALAS FUNERAL HOME, P.A., 6160 Oxon Hill Rd., Oxon Hill, MD on Sunday, November 9, 2008 from 2 to 4 pm. Services will be held on Monday, November 10, 2008 at 11am at St. John's Episcopal Church-Broad Creek, 9801 Livingston Road, Fort Washington, MD. Rev. Marc Britt will be officiating. She will be interred alongside her parents at the church cemetery. .
