orn and raised in Washington, DC, a native Washingtonian, she attended Roosevelt HS & George Washington University. Dottie worked for the U.S. Geological Survey before marrying James (Ernie) Travis and moving to Arlington, Virginia where she lived for fifty years before relocating to Annapolis, MD to be closer to family. Dorothy is survived by her three children: Carol Travis Tucker of Cranston, RI, Lynn Travis Hinkel of Annapolis, MD and Stuart, FL and James E. Travis Jr. of Falmouth, MA; four grandsons Richard Valentine Avena, Matthew Travis Tucker, Benjamin Travis Tucker and Miles Travis Sutton; two sisters, Gloria Griffis Edwards and Delores Griffis Cannon; son-in-laws Thomas S. Hinkel, Jr. and Waylan H. Tucker. She was the daughter of the late Esther Price and Wilbur Griffis. Burial will be private. Please take a moment to sign the online guestbook.
