Dorothy Grizzel Valentine - Obituary

orothy Yvonne Grizzel Valentine Dorothy Yvonne Grizzel Valentine, a 38 year resident of Edgewater, passed away on July 5, 2008 at her home surrounded by her family, of renal cell carcinoma. She was 61. Born on December 13,1946, in Williamson, West Virginia to Lucille Bowling of Irvine, Kentucky and her father the late A.K. Grizzel. She graduated from Belfrry High School in Belfry, Kentucky. Dorothy worked as an office manager for the American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC )in Annapolis, MD. She received the Fraternalist of the Year Award from the Modern Woodmen of America. She has been a member of Riva Trace Baptist Church for 18 years. Her interests include Scrabble, Crochet, and most recently Fishing. Dorothy is survived by her husband of 41 years, Peter Valentine of Edgewater, her sons Johnathan Valentine of California, MD, Brian Valentine of Mt. Joy, PA, Joseph Valentine of Salisbury, MD and his daughter Melody Prairie of Cambridge, MD. She is also survived by her brothers Kenneth and Ronald Grizzel, both of Cincinnati, Ohio and her sisters Linda Grizzel of Richmond, Va. and Sally Frye of Albuquerque,NM .Also survived by 6 grandchildren. Friends are invited to Dorothy's Life Celebration on Tuesday July 8, 2008 from 1-3pm & 7-9pm at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home 2973 Solomons Island Rd. Edgewater, MD. A Funeral service will be held on Wednesday July 9, 2008 at 10:00am at Riva Trace Baptist Church 475 West central Avenue, Davidsonville, MD 21035. Interment Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery.
