Dorothy Jean Wendler - Obituary

orothy Jean Wendler, age 93 of Edgewater, MD, died in Harwood, MD on Sunday, March 17, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Chicopee, MA in 1930 to Raymond and Martha Parmentier. Dorothy was a military spouse of 20 years and retired employee of the Defense Commissary System, after which she worked part time at Hecht’s in the men’s department, taking loving care of her many customers. She was a giver of hugs – always at the ready to hug a loved one, a friend and even a stranger. Pre-deceased by her three siblings, Rosemond Jackson, Raymond Parmentier, Jr. and Doris Dumais, Dorothy is survived by her husband of 73 years, Todd A. Wendler; daughters Karen J. Leib (husband Robert) and Martha K. Yellin; her granddaughter, Shannon J. Leadbetter (husband Wyland, III); and two great grandsons, Wyland, IV and Robbie Leadbetter. A celebration of life for Dorothy will be held on Friday, March 29 from 6-9 PM at Glory Days Grill, 3 Lee Airpark Drive, Edgewater, MD.
