Dorothy J. White - Obituary

Our beloved sister, Dot, (Aunt Dot) to hundreds of grand nieces and nephews, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of March 29th at Sage Point Senior Living Center in LaPlata, MD. Dot was one of 18 children born to William A. White and his wife Helen A. White. She was predeceased by 14 of her brothers and sisters. She is survived by two brothers, Paul A. White and Michael P. White and two sisters Marie W. Helm and. Sara K. Ruschaupt. Dot was a life long resident of Washington, D.C. She attended Holy Comforter grade school and St. Roses High School. Dot worked for over 35 years for the government within the FBI as a Supervisor in the Identification Department. Dot never married and devoted her life to her Family. She moved in with her Sister, Ellen. When Ellen developed Pancreatic cancer, Dot took care of her until she passed peacefully away. She did the same with her other siblings when they needed her. Dot was a huge fan of sports, starting back to her love of the Washington Senators at Griffith Stadium, and a season ticket holder of the Washington Redskins. She also watched many golf tournaments and we got her a ticket to the Master's Tournament one year. She enjoyed it so much. She also spearheaded the Annual Family reunion at our family cottage in North Beach, Md. Dot, after losing her dear sister, Ellen, moved in with Ellen’s daughter-in-law, Brenda Handley down in Southern Maryland. She was lovingly cared for by Brenda’s family in her later years. Much gratitude goes to Brenda, Tracey King, Lea Aumen and their extended families for all the love and care they provided to Dot. Peg Spangler and her brother Terry White were also supportive through this period. Many thanks also to the staff of Sage Point for their love and attention to Dot. They made her 99th Birthday so special just last month. Visitation will be held at Immaculate Conception Church at 28297 Old Village Rd., Mechanicsville, Md., from 11 am until Mass at 12 noon. There will be a luncheon after the Mass at the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge at 27363, Mechanicsville Road, Mechanicsville, Md. Graveside services at Gate of Heaven Cemetery on April 5th at 11:30 am. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Little Sisters of the Poor.
