Dorothyanne Erwin Herbert - Obituary

orothyanne "Dotte" Erwin Herbert, 90, a 50-year resident of District Heights, MD and previously of Washington, D.C., died at home on Thursday, August 16, 2018, in Prince Frederick, MD. Born March 29, 1928, in Washington, D.C., she graduated from St. Francis Xavier grade school and the Academy of Notre Dame School. Dotte was a devoted mother and homemaker. She worked as an Elementary and Religion teacher. Dotte was a longtime member of Mt. Calvary Catholic Church, where she was a Eucharistic minister and a Prefect of the Ladies Sodality. She enjoyed dancing, reading, gardening, exercise, teaching her grandchildren, and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Donald J. Herbert, Sr.; and four siblings, Mickey Erwin of Fostoria, OH, Ernest "Dinty" H. Erwin, Jr. of Washington, D.C., Katherine "Lovins" O'Reagan of Leavenworth, KS, Eileen Blaine of New Carrollton, MD Dotte is survived by four children, Donald (Shawn) J. Herbert, Jr. of Severn, MD, David (Dessie) E. Herbert of Prince Frederick, MD, Danamarie (Tommy) H. Nairn of Arnold, MD, and Deanna (Steve) Jeanne Morusiewicz of Owings, MD. She enjoyed her 11 grandchildren, Matthew and Ryan Herbert, Tj, Kevin, and Christine Nairn, Stefan, Brian, Jenna, and Lauren Morusiewicz, Terri Hardin, and Ashley Hatton; and 13 great-grandchildren, Noah, Avery, Sydney,Marin, Remy, Jordan, Trevor, Regan, Annie, Cheyenne, McKenzie, Lucas, and Lily. Friends are invited to celebrate Dotte's life at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD on Tuesday, August 21, from 6 to 9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, 14908 Main Street, Upper Marlboro, MD on Wednesday, August 22 at 10 am.
