Douglas Jackson - Obituary

ouglas Perry Jackson, 65, of Edgewater, MD passed from this life into the loving arms of God on November 7th, 2013, following an extended illness. Born on December 13th, 1947 in Gambrills, MD he was the son of the late Chester Jackson and Virgie Gross Jackson. Also preceding him in death were two brothers Thurman Jackson and Raymond Jackson and one sister Pauline Bassford. Doug was a wonderful Father, Brother, Son, Husband and Best friend with a true love for life. He was a kind and truly compassionate man who made new friends no matter where he went. Doug is survived by his former wife “Bitsy” Jackson, (2) children Douglas Jackson and wife Tina of Edgewater, MD and Brenda Jackson Herbster and husband Ron of Martinsburg, WV, (2) brothers Luther “Benny” Jackson and wife Audrey of Dunnellon, FL, and Ronald Jackson and wife Linda of Ocala, FL, (3) sisters BettyJean Jackson Alderman and husband “Toddy” of Crab Orchard, WV, Karen Jackson Redman and husband Mike of Pax, WV, and Linda Gross Gill and husband Larry of Minden, WV, (5) grandchildren Travis Jackson, Amber Asmussen, Kenny Egor, Jr, Brandi Jackson Kegley, and Michael Kegley, Fiance’ “Millie” Crigger and her children Sandy and Sherry, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a first great granddaughter due January 2014. Doug had so many things he enjoyed doing, if it was fun he was “all about it”. Motorcycle rides, crabbing, and spending time with his family and friends were at the forefront of it all. He also loved car shows, bowling, going new places, being on the water, and spending time in the great outdoors. Doug was up for almost anything as long as it was with a good group or friends or family members, as he would say “let’s get together and we’ll tell a lie or two”. To put everything Doug loved and enjoyed on paper, would take a lifetime. Doug spent a large portion of his life working as an electrical contractor before retiring. Services in celebration of Doug’s life will be held at Kalas Funeral Home located at 2973 Solomans Island Road, Edgewater, MD. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 12th, 2013 from 1:00 to 3:00pm and again from 6:00 to 9:00pm. Services will be held at Kalas Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 13th, 2013 at 11:00am with internment immediately following in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, 1911 Forest Drive, Annapolis, MD.
