Dr. Louis V. Kaufman - Obituary

r. Louis V. Kaufman died suddenly on February 10, 2023 in Fort Washington, Maryland. Raised in Moundsville, West Virginia, he received his medical degree from West Virginia University and completed his medical training at Georgetown University Hospital in internal medicine and pulmonary disease. He also held a master’s degree in information systems technology from George Washington University. Lou practiced as an internist and pulmonologist for 40 years in Prince Georges County, Maryland. A Certified Medical Director, he was serving as the medical director of Sagepoint Senior Living in La Plata, Maryland at the time of his death. Lou is survived by his wife of 55 years Pat (nee Pellegrini), his daughters Kat (Clint) Calzini of Lexington, Kentucky and Beth (Mike) Royle of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and his 5 grandchildren, Ben Calzini, Emily Royle, Jill Calzini, Katie Royle, and Dan Calzini. He was a gentleman, a caring doctor, a generous friend, an accomplished amateur photographer, and a devoted family man and we will miss him forever. Relatives and friends are invited to Lou’s Life Celebration on Monday, February 20, 2023 at KALAS FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 6160 Oxon Hill Road, Oxon Hill, Maryland 20745 from 3 to 6 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 8710 Mount Vernon Highway, Alexandria, Virginia, 22309.
