D

r. Robert Paul Dickey was born on May 14, 1939 in South Dakota. On September 12, 2016 he passed away after being involved in a traffic accident. He had a passion for the outdoors with a love for hiking and biking. Dr. Dickey attended MIT where he received his Bachelors of Science in Chemical Engineering. He also attended University of Minnesota where he obtained his M.D. in Pediatrics. He completed his internship at Children’s Hospital with a specialty in Cystic Fibrosis. Dr. Dickey opened his practice in 1973 on Good Hope Road in Southeast, D.C. He was dedicated to serving struggling families in an urban community in Southeast, D.C for over 40 years. He was affectionately known as an “Old Country Doctor” because he cared for the well-being of the whole family and served over 6,000 families. Dr. Dickey married Sharon McCall and together they had a daughter, Susan McCall. In 1981 he married his current wife Michelle Fennell-Dickey and gained a step-son, Anwar Walker Fennell. He was preceded in death by his parents, the late Hubert Dickey and the late Sophie Kvisted-Dickey and his brother, the late Don Dickey. He is survived by his loving wife, Michelle Fennell-Dickey; his daughter, Susan McCall; his step-son, Anwar Walker Fennell; his grandchildren, A.J. and Will; his siblings Wade and Dorothy. Friends may call at the GEORGE P. KALAS FUNERAL HOME, 6160 Oxon Hill Rd., Oxon Hill, MD on Saturday, September 24, 2016 from 10 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. Interment private.
