. Linwood “Tip” Tipton, the first president and CEO of the International Dairy Foods Association, died Saturday at the age of 78. He leaves behind a lasting legacy of industry growth, creativity and collaboration while working with all segments of the dairy industry, as well as business associations and the Capitol Hill community. In 1983, Tipton married Connie Eaton Broadstone, who also worked for the industry associations, and together they made many contributions to the dairy industry. The Tiptons were proud to have four children and five grandchildren. Tip’s children are Mark Acklin Tipton (Ann Tipton) and Kelly Ann Tipton; Connie’s children are Andrew James Broadstone (Meghan Broadstone) and Madeline Broadstone Sigrist (Marc Sigrist). Grandchildren are Miles Tipton, Henry and Noah Broadstone, and Eli and Isabelle Sigrist. A memorial service will be held October 21 at 2 p.m. at St. Mark's on Capitol Hill, 301 A Street SE. The service will be followed by a reception at Deer House, 712 East Capitol Street NE, which will continue until 7:00 p.m. Those who would like to honor Tip’s legacy may make a donation to the Dairy Recognition and Education Foundation.
