. Edward “Eddie” Keen, 82, a 34-year resident of South Down Estates in Edgewater, MD and previously of Lynchburg, VA, passed away at his home on May 3, 2021. Born on March 10, 1939 in Danville, VA, Eddie was one of 12 children born to the late Christopher and Velma Keen. After graduating from high school, Eddie served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1963, spending his tour in the Korean Demilitarized Zone. Once he became a civilian again, Eddie started his own business, Keen Painting, which he operated for 54 years. He was a member of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry and enjoyed traveling. Most of all, Eddie simply enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Eddie was preceded in death by eight of his siblings, Christopher, Tuck, Phyllis, Jeane, Katie, Anne, Laura and Helen. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Rochelle Parks Keen, three sons, William Edward (Paula) of Annapolis, MD, Matthew (Lisa) of Lusby, MD and Jesse (Sue) of Edgewater, MD; one daughter Kelley Keen also of Edgewater; one brother, C. Ashby (Agnes) of Harwood, MD; two sisters, Linda Pardue of North Carolina and Viola (Bill) Lohrberg of Michigan; and his brother-in-law, Harry (Lynda) Parks who introduced Eddie and Rochelle and remained close, like a brother, to Eddie throughout his life. Eddie is also survived by four grandsons, Christopher (Lori), Jonathan, Scott (Lanay) and Christian (Julieanna); eight granddaughters, Crystal (Matt), Jennifer (Josh), Mariah (Evan), Kayla (Otto), Seana (Alex), Jessica (Anthony), Laura, and Kristen (Caleb); and 20 great-grandchildren. Friends are invited to celebrate Eddie’s life with his family from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 11 at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater where Eddie’s funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Lakemont Memorial Gardens in Davidsonville, MD. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908.
