dgar Fernandez, returned to our Lord on the early morning of July 11th 2024. Edgar was born on March 28th, 1952, in San Narciso, Zambales, Philippines to Benigno and Paz Fernandez, as the youngest of 6 children. He graduated from the University of the East in Manila and received a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. Edgar taught High school Algebra before enlisting in the United States Navy and went on to have a 20-year career before retiring in 1995. His parents and siblings Vilma Fe Fallejo, Lilia Paz Torres, Nellie Chita Campos and Frances Romeo Fernandez predeceased him. Edgar is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Teresita Caykep Fernandez; his two sons, Arthur Fernandez and Arnold Fernandez (Monica); his brother, Rogelio Benigno Fernandez; Grandchildren, Mya Elle Fernandez, Joaquin Fernandez, and Alyssa Rae Fernandez, and all of his cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family in the United States, Philippines and Germany. Edgar enjoyed nothing less than to spend quality time with his family and his grandchildren love their “Lolo'' very dearly. He had taken the role of patriarch as he was the glue to the many generations of the Fernandez clan. Edgar loved to sing, fish, and speak upon his life’s experiences. He was loved amongst family and friends. He was regarded as a second father to many. He was a voice of reason and was always accommodating. Edgar loved his grandchildren dearly and was dedicated to being the best husband, father and grandfather. Edgar’s kind heart will be greatly missed to all who knew and loved him. Relatives and friends are invited to Edgar's Life Celebration on Friday, July 19, 2024 from 2 to 6 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the KALAS FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 6160 Oxon Hill Rd., Oxon Hill, MD 20745. A funeral service will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Interment with full military honors will be held on Monday, September 23, 2024 at 10 a.m. at Arlington National Cemetery. All attending must provide their own transportation and arrive at the Arlington Administration building by 9:15am.
