dgar Garay, a beloved member of his community, passed away at the age of 87 on February 29, 2024. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. Born in 1936 in Peru, South America, Edgar immigrated to the United States and began dedicating his life to serving others, both professionally and personally. As an employee of the DC Superior Court, he displayed unwavering integrity and diligence, earning the trust and admiration of his colleagues and the public he served. After his retirement from Federal Government service, he became an active member of the Knights of Columbus, where his warmth, kindness, and dedication brightened every gathering. He served as Grand Knight of St. Columcille Council #5317 from 2014-2015. In addition to his professional pursuits, Edgar was deeply committed to his Catholic faith and spent countless hours contributing to his church community at St. Columba Church. His generosity, compassion, and unwavering faith touched the lives of many. Edgar is survived by his loving wife, Mariana Isabel Garay, and devoted son, Edgar Garay, Jr., as well as grandchildren Abigail Garay and Noah Garay. He will be remembered fondly for his kind heart, steadfast spirit, and enduring legacy of love and service. Edgar's viewing will be held on Monday, March 11, 2024, from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm at KALAS FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 6160 Oxon Hill Rd., Oxon Hill, MD 20745. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Columba Catholic Church, 7800 Livingston Rd., Oxon Hill, MD at 10:00 am on Tuesday, March 12, 2024. Interment Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton, MD. After the interment, a repast and gathering will be held at Topolino restaurant in Clinton, MD. All are welcome to join the family to celebrate Edgar. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Archdiocese of Washington's Annual Appeal at https://give.adw.org in honor of Edgar's commitment to helping others. You may select St. Columba Church in Oxon Hill (#326) when asked to select a parish. Edgar's memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
