dgardo Cacho Padilla, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend passed away on August 10, 2024, at the age of 71, in Washington D.C. surrounded by his loving family. Born on February 21, 1953, in Santa Barbara, Pangasinan, Philippines, Edgardo was the son of the late Hilario and Justina Padilla. As the second eldest of six siblings, Edgardo was a pillar of strength and responsibility in his family. With his oldest brother living in the United States, Edgardo was the second in command and took on significant responsibilities, managing family affairs and providing support. His siblings include Wilfredo Padilla, Alfredo Padilla, Eduardo Padilla, Rolando Padilla (late), and Thelma Tolete. Edgardo graduated from Saint Louis University, in Pangasinan Philippines where he was known for his athleticism, excelling in basketball. Renowned for being one of the toughest men in town, he earned deep respect and reverence from those around him. In 1975, Edgardo moved to Scotland on a work visa, and subsequently moved to London in pursuit of job opportunities. On April 14, 1977, he married his beloved wife, Josephine. Shortly after their marriage, Edgardo and Josephine moved to the United States, where he embarked on a distinguished career in finance and public service. He worked at Riggs Bank and as a manager at PMI before dedicating 26 years to the United States Postal Service. Known for his toughness, zest for life, infectious laughter, and deep love for his family, Edgardo took immense joy in singing karaoke, dancing, and being with his family and relatives. As a steadfast protector, his strength and dedication were evident in every aspect of his life. His sense of humor brought laughter and joy to all who knew him, and he often reached out to relatives to stay connected, catch up and joke around. Edgardo enjoyed a simple life, focusing on his family and the things he loved. He delighted in music and sports, and especially watching his grandson, King play basketball. His role as a protector and his unwavering support provided a sense of security and love to his family. He will be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father, and dedicated grandfather. His kindness, thoughtfulness, and profound love for his family will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. Edgardo is survived by his wife, Josephine Padilla; his children, Brian Padilla, Crystal Padilla and Jovan Padilla. He was a cherished grandfather to Jazelle Padilla, Avery King Padilla, Kacen Padilla Curley, and Ayana Padilla. He also leaves behind his siblings Wilfredo Padilla, Alfredo Padilla, Eduardo Padilla, and Thelma Tolete. As a patriarch, protector, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend and mentor to the countless people he crossed paths with in his lifetime, Edgardo will be deeply missed by all those whose lives he touched. Relatives and friends are invited to Edgardo's Life Celebration on Friday, August 23, 2024 from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 6160 Oxon Hill Road, Oxon Hill, MD 20745. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at 10 a.m. at St. Columba Catholic Church, 7800 Livingston Road, Oxon Hill, MD 20745. Interment Resurrection Cemetery, 8000 Woodyard Rd., Clinton, MD 20735.
