Edith Shoemaker - Obituary

dith Elizabeth “Liz” Shoemaker, age 73, a 25 year resident of Davidsonville, MD and formerly of Upper Marlboro, MD, died on Monday, February 16 at her residence with her family by her side after a 1½ year battle with cancer. Liz was born on January 29, 1936 in Melwood, MD and graduated from Sasscer High School in Upper Marlboro, MD. She worked as a dietician at Manor Care Nursing Home in Largo, MD from 1975 until she retired in 2007. She attended Chesapeake Christian Fellowship in Davidsonville, MD. Liz enjoyed bowling, flower gardening, and going to flea markets and yard sales. She was the beloved wife of Melvin Shoemaker; mother of Brenda Stanfield of Huntingtown, MD and Vickie Rockhill of Plant City, FL: daughter of Christine Tayman of Davidsonville, MD. Also survived by 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Friends are invited to Liz's Life Celebration at THE GEORGE P. KALAS FUNERAL HOME, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD on Thursday, February 19 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9PM and at Chesapeake Christian Fellowship, 377 W. Central Ave., Davidsonville, MD on Friday, February 20 from 9:30 to 10:30AM with funeral service following at 11:00 AM. Interment Washington National Cemetery, Suitland, MD. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Chesapeake, 445 Defense Hwy., Annapolis, MD 21401.
