Edith Waller - Obituary

dith Anne Waller, 86, a 7-year resident of Edgewater, MD and previously of Umatilla, FL died on February 16, 2011 at Anne Arundel Medical Center of natural causes after a 2 month illness. Born November 16, 1924 in Bavaria, Germany, to the late Andrew and Hedwig Schwankl, she arrived in the United States at Ellis Island, NY aboard the Europa on May 28, 1930. Edith was a loving housewife most of her life. She was an avid reader, history buff and her pets were second to only her children. In addition to her parents, Edith was predeceased by her husband, John A. Waller, whom she married on July 17, 1943 and who died March 24, 1990; and a brother, Alfred Schwankl, who died in 1980. She is survived by 2 sons, Keith A. Waller of Columbia, PA and Jeffrey A. Waller of Edinburg, VA; 1 daughter, Lynn A. Edwards of Edgewater, MD; also survived by 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Friends are invited to Edith’s Life Celebration at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD on Saturday, February 19 from 12pm until time of service begins at 1pm. Interment Lakemont Memorial Gardens.
