Edith Louise Whetzel, "Louie", 77, a resident of Mayo, MD died at Johns Hopkins University Hospital on August 19, 2011 of cancer after a long illness.

Born July 23, 1934 in Mayo, MD, she graduated from Annapolis High School and was a housewife most of her life. She enjoyed reading, puzzles and watching the Dallas Cowboys.

Edith was predeceased by two sons, Steven and Jeff Whetzel.

Louie was survived by her husband, Charles L. Whetzel; one son, Kevin Whetzel of Davidsonville, MD; one brother, Homer Dawson of Eastern Shore, MD; three sisters, Shirley Crawford of Shenandoah, VA, Dorothy Brashears of New Bern, NC and Hazel Luttrel of Chestertown, MD and Hazel Luttrel of Chestertown, MD; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Friends are invited to Edith's Life Celebration at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD on Wednesday, August 24, 2011 from 2pm to 4pm. Interment private. Online guestbook available at www.kalasfuneralhomes.com
