dmund Thomas Fridrich, 89, of Harwood, died of cancer January 31 at his home. Mr. Fridrich was born November 2, 1919 in Terre Haute, Indiana to the late Edmund Carl and Elizabeth Fridrich. He began his career as a radio operator for Braniff Airways and then worked for Aeronautical Radio, Inc. (Arinc) for 35 years, retiring in 1981. In his younger days he enjoyed sailing and horseback riding and was an avid ham radio operator. He enjoyed gardening and making improvements to his home and was a member of the Elks Club in Edgewater and the Sons of Italy in Annapolis. He was a devout Catholic and a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Davidsonville. Surviving him are his beloved wife Rose Mary Fridrich (nee DiStefano); four children, Suzanne Fridrich of Baltimore, MD, Edmund M Fridrich of Melbourne, FL, Thomas Fridrich of Annapolis, Fran Fridrich of Harwood; one stepdaughter, Irene Statom of Florence, AL; three grandchildren, Sarah Frances Fridrich, Samson Edmund Fridrich and Noah Thomas Fridrich; one sister, Marie Mess of Columbus, Ohio. Preceding him in death were his wife Frances M Fridrich and two sisters, Elizabeth Scott and Vera Shaloo. A visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday February 4 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at Kalas Funeral Home in Edgewater. A mass will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, Davidsonville, on Thursday February 5 at 10am. Internment at Lakemont Memorial Gardens in Davidsonville, MD. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Holy Family Catholic Church Building Fund in Davidsonville.
