duardo “Eddie” Capati of Fort Washington, MD passed away on February 4, 2020 at 79 years old. The Sailor. The Brother. The Chef. The Husband. The Father. The Lolo. The Grandpa. He was born on April 30, 1941, in Guagua, Pampanga, Philippines to Adolfo Guevara and Modesta Razon Capati. He graduated from Guagua National Colleges in 1957. He attended FEATI Institute of Technology in Manila while residing in Anak Bayan, Tondo, Manila, when he met his wife of 54 years, Julieta Buenviaje. After brief employment with MERALCO, he enlisted in the US Navy and served for 20 years, sailing the high seas and traveling the world. He retired as a Chief Petty Officer, USN and within days, became the executive chef to the US Comptroller for the General Accounting Office and served for more than 30 years. Eddie married Juliet in 1966 in Manila, Philippines. They had 3 children, Eric, Erwin and Joyce. He is a member of the St Columba Catholic Church Parish, former President of both Circulo Pampangueño of Hawaii and Metropolitan Washington, DC. He enjoyed traveling with his wife to worldwide destinations, cruising with his navy buddies and their spouses, loved to dance and cater his own family events. He was the jokester, story-teller, designated meat carver and always the life of the party. Eddie loved to party and host parties just as much as he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, brothers and sisters. He never missed hosting a milestone family celebration and always celebrated them with Eddie’s signature flair be it the baptism of his children or his renewal of vows at both 25th and 50th wedding anniversaries with Juliet. Eddie was preceded in death by his son, Erwin; his sister, Juliet; his father, Adolfo. Eddie is survived by his spouse, Juliet of Fort Washington, MD; his son Eric (Vicky) of Clarksburg, MD; his daughter Joyce (Nick) of Vienna, VA; his mother, Modesta, of Guagua, Pampanga, Philippines; 5 younger siblings, Herman, Manny, Jean, Cora and Lita; his loving grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nephews, great nieces and numerous other relatives.
