dward Wenceslaus Chojnowski Sr., 77, a resident of Greenwood Acres in Annapolis for 51 years and previously of Baltimore, died of congestive heart failure Feb. 2 in his home after a lengthy illness.
Mr. Chojnowski was born Nov. 5, 1930, in Baltimore and graduated in 1949 from Southern High School in Baltimore.
He was employed at E.I. DuPont in Baltimore for 18 years as a laboratory supervisor, then worked for F.M.C. Corp. for 27 years, until he retired in 1996.
He served in the Navy aboard the USS. Helena during the Korean War.
Mr. Chojnowski served on the Anne Arundel County Republican Central Committee and was appointed to the county Board of Elections for 12 years, two of which he served as president. He was a former member of the Maryland Association of Election Officials and was a member of Elks Lodge 622 in Annapolis.
His enjoyed politics, elections, football and sports in general, and his grandchildren's activities.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Vivian Chojnowski; two sons, Edward Chojnowski of Seaford, Del., and Robert Chojnowski of Havre de Grace; and four grandchildren.
Family and friends may join in the celebration of his life from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road in Edgewater.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Lakemont Memorial Gardens.
