dward John Cummings, III, born December 31, 1928 in Quincy, Massachusetts, passed away Monday, April 21, 2014. He resided in Massachusetts until 1954 when he relocated to Washington, D.C. after marriage to Diana DiBona in 1953. He was a Research Analyst for the Central Intelligence Agency for over 30 years, and later as a part-time consultant. His later years were spent in the Maryland suburbs and ultimately spent his last years in Connecticut under the care of his son, Michael and family.
Ed enjoyed a lifelong interest in music which continued until his passing, amassing a vast record collection. His great joy was acting as disc jockey and entertaining his many friends at the local American Legion and VFW halls with his music.
He leaves behind two sons, Edward John Cummings, IV, and Michael Douglas Cummings, two daughters, Kelley Anne Werner and Cathleen Marie Spring as well as two brothers, William and Roy Cummings and a sister, Joyce Cummings McIninch; also 8 beloved grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to Ed's Life Celebration on Friday, May 9, 2014 from 11:30 a.m. until time of funeral services at 12:30 p.m. at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home in Oxon Hill, MD. Interment with military honors will follow at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Chelternham, MD at 2 p.m. Guests are invited to a reception at the local American Legion Hall Post #248 in Clinton, MD at 1500.
