dward F. “Ed” Dick Sr., 84, of Annapolis for 15 yeas and previously of Gulfport, Miss. and Severna Park, died of colon cancer March 29 after a six-month illness. He was born Nov. 20, 1924, in New York City, N.Y. He received his degree in Engineering from Alfred University in N.Y. He worked for 25 years as a financial consultant and account executive with Merrill Lynch. His previous career included management within the electronics industry including Westinghouse and Zenith, as well as glass plant management. He served in the Army during World War II and was honorably discharged. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, participated in 24-hour adoration, and was a member of various financial industry organizations. He had a lifelong interest in the financial markets. He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren, serving on church organizations, and collecting coins and rare glass. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Dick, whom he married in 1952 and who died in 2007; and one son, James Dick. Survivors include four sons, Edward F. Dick Jr. of Shady Side, Joseph Dick of Wheaton, Ill., William Dick of Lakewood, Ohio and Robert Dick of Annapolis; two daughters, Gina Haske of Annapolis and Tina Nunn of North Reading, Mass.; three brothers, Robert and George Dick, both of Long Island, N.Y., and William Dick of Temperance, Mich.; and 19 grandchildren. Friends are invited to Ed's Life Celebration from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 3 at George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 109 Duke of Gloucester St., Annapolis. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in honor of Mr. Dick's late son, James Dick and his grandson, Daniel Nunn, to the Muscular Dystrophy Assn., 6305 Ivy Lane, Greenbelt, MD 20770.
