Edward Elmer Dorsey - Obituary

dward Elmer “Ed” Dorsey, Jr., 60, an 18-year resident of Mayo and previously of Lanham, MD, passed away on October 25, 2017. Born on March 14, 1957, in Takoma Park, MD to the late Jane and Edward Dorsey, Sr., Ed graduated from Parkdale High School in Riverdale, MD and pursued a career as a mechanical engineer. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 99 and worked for Emcor and the Charles E. Smith Company. One of Ed’s project assignments took him to the U. S. Census Bureau where he was offered and accepted a position as Chief Engineer, a job he held until his retirement. Ed enjoyed music, being outdoors, boating and fishing. He also loved his dogs, but his greatest passion was spending time with his family and friends. Ed is survived by his son, Edward (Jennifer) Dorsey of Eldersburg, MD; two daughters, Amy (Kris) Flaherty of Newbury Park, CA and Erica Dorsey of Odenton, MD; two brothers, David and Russell Dorsey and two sisters, Ellen Jenkins and Mary Hellis-Hugel; and five grandchildren, Aidan, Kamryn, Liam, Teagan, and Addyson.
