dward “Eddie” P. Hilgenberg of Odenton and previously of Edgewater died July 13, 2011.
Eddie was born October 12, 2924 in Washington, DC. Eddie was a proud WWII veteran who served in the Navy on the USS Omaha. He worked for the Defense Mapping Agency for 37 years. Eddie’s memberships included: St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Odenton, a long time member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Edgewater, Knights of Columbus, American Legion Post 226 in Mayo, the Londontown Peppers and the Defense Mapping Seniors.
He was preceded in death by his step-son, Timothy D. Norton.
Eddie is survived by his loving wife, Gertrude; his beloved step-children, Wayne (Debbie) Norton, JoAnn (Karen Yanity) Norton and Sherree (Timothy) Bolyard; one sister, Louise Divver; also survived by 8 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Friends are invited to Eddie’s Life Celebration at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 19 at 11am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 515 Loch Haven Rd., Edgewater, MD. Interment Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Crownsville. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Foundation, 2115 Park Blvd., San Diego, CA 92101 (Memo: "Warrior Foundation").
