Edward Kelly - Obituary

dward M. Kelly, age 80, a resident of Annapolis, MD for many years, died on October 10, 2009 at Anne Arundel Medical Center due to various health issues. Ed was born on September 4, 1929 in Pittsburgh, PA. He served in the US Navy from 1946 to 1966 and while in the Navy, Ed travelled to Istanbul, Greece, the Philippine and Hawaiian Islands. After retiring from the US Navy, Ed worked in the medical department at Bethlehem Steel as a physician's assistant and then as the supervisor in receipt control for the Dep't. of Defense at the US Naval Academy. Ed was a member of the Fleet Reserve Assn. for over 50 years and the Knights of Columbus, Our Lady of Lourdes Council #4606, in Locust Point. Ed was an avid reader and enjoyed music, collecting lighthouses and travelling abroad. Ed was the beloved husband of Marie A. Kelly; father of Barbara Kelly of Annapolis, MD, Patti Kelly of Abingdon, MD and Michael Kelly of Annapolis, MD; brother of Kate Fairman of Vero Beach, FL; brother in law of Earl Fairman of Vero Beach, FL, also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Friends are invited to Ed's Life Celebration at the GEORGE P. KALAS FUNERAL HOME, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD on Saturday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9pm and on Sunday from 2 to 5pm. Graveside service and interment will be held on Tuesday, December 1 at 11:00am at Arlington National Cemetery. Those attending please gather at the Cemetery Administration Building at 10:30am.
