dward “Ed” James Lechert, Jr., age 69, of Edgewater, died July 30 at his home.
Born on September 1, 1943 in Baltimore, Ed was a manager at Zayres, Ames, Office Depot and Giant. He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War and was a member of American Legion Post 226 in Mayo.
Ed was preceded in death in 2011 by his wife of 29 years, Karen Lechert; his parents, Marie and Edward Lechert, Sr.; and his grandparents, Rose and Thomas Faulkner.
He is survived by his children, William “Billy” Lechert of Washington, D.C., Annette Diehl of Pasadena and Michele Lenkiewicz of Glen Burnie and three grandchildren, Brandon and Stephen Lenkiewicz of Glen Burnie and Taylor Diehl of Pasadena.
Friends are invited to Ed's Life Celebration on Sunday, August 4 from 3 to 8pm at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater. A graveside service will be held on Monday, August 5 at 10am at Maryland Veterans Cemetery, 1122 Sunrise Beach Road, Crownsville.
