E

dward F. Mauk, Jr. “Buddy”, a lifelong resident of Galesville, died at Anne Arundel Medical Center on Sunday August 23 from complications of lung cancer. He was 65. Born December 1, 1943 at Anne Arundel General Hospital in Annapolis to Georgia Lee and the late Edward F. Mauk, Sr. He attended Southern High School, worked as a carpenter and later as a delivery driver for Fawcett Boat Supplies and Homestead Gardens. He was an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous, and enjoyed woodworking and sports, especially golf. He was predeceased by his former spouse, Madeline Norfolk, who passed away in 2005, and his father, Edward F. Mauk, Sr., who died in August of 1999. Buddy is survived by his mother, Georgia Lee Mauk, of Galesville, MD; his sister Frankie Lee Parkinson of Galesville, and his nephews, William Joseph Parkinson, Jr. of Galesville, Michael Edward Parkinson of Shady Side, MD and Donald Scott Parkinson of Galesville. Friends are invited to Buddy's Life Celebration on Wednesday, August 26, from 1 to 3 & 6 to 8pm at the GEORGE P. KALAS FUNERAL HOME, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD where funeral services will be held on Thursday August 27, at 11am. Interment Woodfield Cemetery, Galesville, MD. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hope House, P. O. Box 546 - Crownsville, MD 21032 or to a charity of one's choice in Buddy's memory.
