Edwin Dolan - Obituary

dwin P. Dolan, Sr. “Ed”, age 78, a 23 year resident of Edgewater, MD and formerly of Adelphi, Maryland died on April 6, 2010 at Anne Arundel Medical Center of lung disease. Born in Washington, DC on February 9, 1932, Ed attended Coolidge High School and served in the US Navy from 1949 to 1951. He retired from the Government Printing Office where he was the Superintendent of Production Planning. Ed was a member of American Legion Post 7, the Fleet Reserve and the Elks Lodge, all in Annapolis. He enjoyed all sports, especially golf. He served as a youth coach and referee for many years. Ed was the MD State Rules Interpreter for the IAABO (International Association of Approved Basketball Officials). Ed is survived by his wife, Shirley A. Dolan whom he married on April 5, 1952. He is also survived by three sons, Edwin P. Dolan, Jr. of Sykesville, MD, John Dolan of Odenton, MD and Michael C. Dolan of Los Angeles, CA; two daughters, Jeanette Dolan Suite of Glen Burnie, MD and Pamela Dolan Jones of Edgewater, MD; a brother, Gerald Dolan of Florida; two sisters Mary Frances Vest of Glen Burnie, MD and Helen Shawkey of Florida. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Friends are invited to Ed's Life Celebration at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9pm where services will be held on Monday, April 12 at 10:00am.
