dwin H. Porter, age 78, a 27 year resident of Epping Forest in Annapolis, MD and formerly of Silver Spring, MD, died at his residence on Sunday, September 20 of natural causes after a 6 month illness. Ed was born in Washington, DC on September 2, 1931 and was a graduate of Hyattsville High School. He worked as an elevator installer in DC for over 30 years. During the Korean War, Ed served in the US Navy aboard the Destroyer, USS Pittsburgh. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Annapolis and the International Union of Elevator Constructors (IUEC) Local 10. Ed enjoyed horse racing, stock car racing, cutting coupons and shopping for his family. He is survived by his wife, Pat Hofmann, whom he married on August 20, 1994. He was pre-deceased by his first wife Julia A. Porter who died on October 5, 1963. He also is survived by one son, Joseph Edwin Porter of Annapolis, MD; a brother, James Porter of Laurel, MD; a sister, Frances Castillo of Wesley Chapel, FL and 10 grandchildren. Friends are invited to Ed's Life Celebration at the GEORGE P. KALAS FUNERAL HOME, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD on Thursday from 5 to 8pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, September 25 at 9am at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, Annapolis, MD. Entombment Saturday, September 26 at 1pm at Gate of Heaven Cemetery Mausoleum, Silver Spring, MD.
