Edwin Eugene Stickley - Obituary

dwin Eugene Stickley, 86, of Lusby, MD, passed away peacefully at his family home on December 19, 2018. Edwin is predeceased by his beloved wife of 39 years, Susie (Beall) Stickley. He is survived by his loving family of five children, John “Jack” Stickley (Donna), Glenna Kidd (Frank), Dianne Baumann, Mark Stickley, and J. Drew Stickley; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and his brother Robert Stickley. As a young entrepreneur, Edwin made a successful career in the asphalt paving business that spanned 32 years before retiring in 2004. In addition to enjoying time with family and friends, he had a passion for flying as a QB, and member of EAA and AOPA; and cruising the Chesapeake Bay and Intracoastal Waterway as a licensed USCG Captain. His leisure time included enthusiasm for Dixieland jazz, dancing the jitterbug, travel and reading books with a keen interest in US and world history. A Celebration of Edwin’s Life will be held for friends and family on Sunday, January 27, 2019, at The Blue Dolphin Seafood Bar & Grill, 1166 Rt. 3 South, Gambrills, MD from 11:00 am until his memorial service begins at 11:30 am. A reception will immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Edwin’s name to Hospice of the Chesapeake Foundation, 90 Ritchie Hwy, Pasadena, MD 21122; or Angel Flight Mid-Atlantic to which Edwin devoted many volunteer flights, 4620 Haygood Rd, Ste 1, Virginia Beach, VA 23455.
