E

laine Dolores Golden, Age 77 of Walkersville, formerly of Davidsonville, passed away December 22, at Heritage Harbour Health and Rehabilitation in Annapolis due to complications from dementia. Elaine Delores Stach was born on June 3, 1935 in Chicago, IL to the late Joseph and Sophie Stach. She later moved to Springfield, OH where she met and married her first husband, Everette Sanders. Later, Elaine relocated to Edgewater, where she was employed by the Chesapeake Instrument Corporation in Shadyside, which was eventually bought out by Gould, then Lockheed Martin Marietta. Elaine retired from Lockheed Martin Marietta. Elaine was very active in the Annapolis Elks Lodge #622 located in Edgewater and became the first woman to head the 1,626 member lodge in its 108 year history. Elaine enjoyed charity work, a mainstay of the Elks Lodge. In 2000 she served as chairwoman of the organization’s Charity Ball which raised money for Langton Green, an assisted living home in Annapolis. Ms. Golden also headed the Christmas basket drive for 2001, which raised food for 36 needy families in the Annapolis area. Ms. Golden was especially proud to be on the seven member team during her tenure as exalted ruler that won top honors in presenting from memory the Elks’ 87 page initiation book. Elaine is survived by her spouse of 33 years, Robert A. Golden, Sr. of Davidsonville; four children, Catherine Sanders of Edgewater, Caren (David) Whitcher of Edgewater, Pamela (Bill) Imes of Walkersville and Stanley (Kelly) Sanders of Greensboro, NC; brothers Gerald A. Stach of Port St. Lucie, FL, Robert Stach of Fresno, CA, and sister Joanne Snyder of Springfield, OH. Elaine leaves grandchildren William Barry Whitcher, Jr., of Edgewater, Marilynne Whitcher of Asheville, NC, Daniel Whitcher of Ocean City, Andrew and Laura Tonges of AZ, Tiffany Sanders of Greensboro, NC, Rebecca Sanders of Bethesda, Britney and Brianna Imes of Walkersville and Robert A. Golden, III of Baltimore. Ms. Golden also leaves behind two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Olivia Whitcher, of Edgewater. A memorial service will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton Catholic Church in Crofton, on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at 11:00AM. A Celebration of Elaine’s life will immediately follow at the Elks Lodge in Edgewater beginning at 1:00 PM.
