laine G. Voorhees July 27, 1929 – June 30, 2018 Elaine Gibbs Voorhees, beloved wife of the late James Milton Voorhees, Jr., and loving mother to David James, Scott Gibbs, and the late Derek Bradford Voorhees, passed away peacefully at Gilchrest Hospice in Towson, Md, Saturday afternoon. She is survived by her sons David James Voorhees (and wife Mary Ellen), of Catonsville, Md, and Scott Gibbs Voorhees (and wife Dawn), of Shady Side, Md; 7 grandchildren - Jenna (Lanoue), Jessie (Graham), Jared, Lauren (Flanagan), Alex, Megan, Ethan; and 2 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Voorhees was born in Albany, NY, July 27, 1929. She graduated Bethlehem Central High School in Delmar, NY, in 1947, attended Syracuse University for one year as a Fine Arts Major, and worked as an EEG Technician at Albany Medical Center before marrying James Voorhees in 1950. A homemaker for 30 years, she also worked as the office manager for her husband James’ construction supply company before retiring in 1999. An avid reader, she also enjoyed gardening, and traveling the country with her husband in their motor home. She passed her love of art and music on to all of her family. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Elaine’s life at the Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD on Saturday, July 7, 2018 from 11am until her funeral service begins at 12pm. Interment immediately following at Lakemont Memorial Gardens, Davidsonville, MD.
