Eleanor Anderson - Obituary

leanor Anderson, 80, of Davidsonville, died on April 8, 2012. She was born on April 15, 1931 in Flushing, NY to the late James and Kathryn Shields. She earned a bachelors degree from Mount Ida College in Newton, MA and a Masters Degree in Special Education from Bowie State University. She served as a public school teacher in Prince George’s County for 25 years. Eleanor was a vestry member and junior warden at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Bowie and a member of its school board. She was an educational docent for Historic London Town and Gardens and received their Lifetime Achievement Award for her contributions. Eleanor also danced with the South County Show Stoppers and enjoyed gardening and travel. She is survived by her husband, George Anderson, three sons, William (and his wife, Ann), Robert and George; one daughter, Kathy (Glenn) Larson; one sister, Marion (Jim) Maino; eight grandsons and two granddaughters. Friends are invited to a memorial service for Eleanor at 2PM on May 7 at Historic London Town and Gardens, 839 Londontown Road, Edgewater, MD 21037. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Eleanor’s memory to the Historic London Town and Gardens Educational Fund at the same address.
