Eleanor Bowen - Obituary

leanor Marie Bowen Eleanor Marie Bowen, "Ellie', 81, a 56 year resident of Harwood, died at her home of Alzheimer's Disease on Thursday, March 12, 2015. Ellie was born June 23, 1933 in Edgewater, Maryland to the late George and Hattie Ford and was a 1950 graduate of Annapolis High School. Ellie was a Kelly Girl for Nationwide Insurance Company, she was also a secretary for 20 years under comptroller Louis Goldstein, retiring in 1990. She was a Jehovah's Witness and enjoyed cooking, gardening and decorating. In addition to her parents, Ellie was preceded in death by her husband, Owen Bowen, Sr.; siblings, George Wilson, Jr., Vernon E. Ford, Sr. and Genevieve Moreland. She is survived by two sons; Odell Brown, Jr. of Harwood and Bruce W. Bowen, also of Harwood; one brother, Robert Ford of Edgewater, two grandchildren; Gregory Bowen of Edgewater and Angie Cookson of New Burn, NC and three great-grandchildren, Kaleb, Logan and Ryan. Friends may call on Tuesday, March 17 from 11am until 12pm at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater. A graveside service will be held immediately following at 12:30 at Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery in Annapolis.
