leanor King Creveling, 91, of Annapolis and formerly of Oxon Hill, died Friday, May 9 at Ginger Cove Health Center after a brief illness. Born on July 9, 1922 in Huntington, WV, Eleanor received her Bachelor’s Degree from Florida Southern College and her Master’s from the University of Maryland.
Eleanor became a WAVE officer in World War II where she met her husband, an army officer at the Naval Research Laboratory.
She retired from Prince George’s County Public Schools in 1981 after many years as a classroom teacher and an elementary school principal. In her spare time she enjoyed playing bridge.
Eleanor is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Cyrus Jay Creveling, Sr., who died in 2003.
Surviving her are four sons, Cyrus, Jr. (Carol Stambach), Michael (Anne), Alan, Sr. (Cynthia Fenton) and Donald (Marian); and eight grandchildren, Ashleigh, Liz (Andrew) Petrella, Alan, Jr., Sam, Andrew, John, Emily and Katie.
