Eleanor F. Wright - Obituary

leanor “Ele” Francis Wright, 83, of Edgewater, MD and previously of Edgewater, FL, Decatur, TX and Bowie, MD passed away on January 26, 2025 due to congestive heart failure and a 7-month battle with lung cancer. Born on November 12, 1941 in New York City, NY to the late Anna Komar and Joseph Naklicki, Eleanor graduated from high school before establishing careers in various secretary positions in Washington, DC. She went on to retire from the Bureau of Engraving and Printing after an 11-year career. In her free time, she loved playing bingo, bowling, and video games. Known as Ele-Mom or the “Dog Whisperer,” she will always be remembered for her deep passion and remarkable ability to connect with every dog she met, no matter the place or time. Her home was always filled with the warmth of countless paw prints, a true testament to the love and care she gave to each furry friend. In addition to her parents, Eleanor was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 21 years, Frederick James Wright; her son, James Wright; her daughter, Tammy (Tony) Craighead; and her brother, James. She is survived by her daughters, Lisa (Craig) Chaney of MD, Liz Wright of MD, and Debbie (Russ) Martin of FL; her sister, Roseanna (Alan) Lackas of MD; and her grandchildren, Jimmy Wright, Matthew Trail, Justin (Jenn) Ramos, Jacob Ramos, Nicholas Libernini, Nicole Trail, Connie (Mike) Holland, and Megan Kwasinski; one great-granddaughter, Sophie Ramos. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Eleanor’s life on Friday, February 7 from 2 to 4 pm at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD.
