lenora Helen Sproesser, 99, a twelve year resident of Edgewater and previously of Cottage City, died on Monday, May 5 at the Mandrin Inpatient Care Center in Harwood as a result of injuries suffered in a fall six days ago. Born on February 5, 1915 in Watertown, SD to the late Hermann and Mary Lemke Schwanke, Elenora was the last surviving of 13 children in her family. A homemaker for most of her life, she also worked as a restaurant cashier, hostess and salesclerk. She enjoyed sewing, quilt making, embroidery and gardening. In addition to her parents and siblings, Elenora was preceded in death by her husband, Milton Sproesser, whom she married on April 8, 1944 and who died on April 7, 1960, and by a granddaughter, Shelley Alion and grandson, Robert Welch. She is survived by two daughters, Peggy (Bob) Welch of Edgewater and Betty Hill of Waldorf; four grandchildren, Russ (Sarah) Alion of Marietta, GA, Kenny Hill of La Plata, Pam Howard of Weems, VA and Rachael Altemose of Exeter, PA, she is also survived by 8 great-grandchildren. Funeral service and interment will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
