Elizabeth Emma Gatewood - Obituary

lizabeth Emma Gatewood Elizabeth “Betty” E. Gatewood, a 15 year resident of Davidsonville, MD and previously of Lanham, MD died on Friday, April 9, 2010 at Anne Arundel Medical Center. Born November 7, 1922 in Tyre, New York to the late Romayne and Phoebe Marsh., she attended Mynderse Academy in Seneca Falls, NY, and also attended Morrisville State University Technical Institute in 1950. Betty began her working career working for the Federal Government as a Food Service Manager in the Senate Cafeteria, she later worked for the Maryland State Government as a school Cafeteria manager. She ended her working career in 1985 after retiring with the Department of Transportation, working as a cashier for student parking at the University of Maryland She was a member of the Pepper Club in Edgewater, MD, the St. Mathias and St. Mary's Senior Clubs. She enjoyed gardening, travelling, especially with her senior clubs. Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband Granville S. Gatewood. She is survived by her children, Gary (Linda) T. Gatewood of Davidsonville, MD and Phoebe J. (John) Minns of Sodus, NY and the late Bonita A. Gatewood – Duran, who died in 1987, her siblings, Burt Marsh of Ohio, Ella Payne of Seneca Falls, NY, and the late Bob, Edwin and Leon Marsh. Also survived by her grandchildren, Matthew and Ashley Gatewood, Nicholas and Jonathan Duran, Kristen Minns Felluca, John Jr., and Brian Minns, and her great-grandchildren, Morgan Felluca and Jaron Minns. Friends are invited to Betty's Life Celebration on Thursday, April 15, 2010 from 9am until funeral services begin at 11am at the GEORGE P. KALAS FUNERAL HOME, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD 21037. Interment Ft. Lincoln Cemetery.
