lizabeth G. Havnen “Bettie”
Elizabeth G. Havnen, “Bettie”, 79, a 14 year resident of Heritage Harbour in Annapolis, died on Friday, September 17, 2010 of a heart attack at her residence.
Born April 9, 1931, in Washington, D.C. to the late Walter and Marguerite Walker, she was a 1949 graduate of Eastern High School in Washington, D.C. Bettie worked as a Sales Representative for Johnson & Johnson Medical, and as a Bookkeeper for the P.G. County Accounting Dept., where she retired after 20 years of service in 1991.
Bettie loved gardening, cooking, studying history, and animals.
Bettie is survived by one daughter, Kim H. Lauer of La Plata, MD and one sister Patricia McLaughlin of Beverly Hills, Florida. Also survived by her granddaughters Kathleen Lauer of La Plata, MD and Melanie Lauer of Annapolis, MD. She was predeceased by her husband Vaughn Havnen, who died in 2000, her brothers Joseph and Walter Walker and her sisters Eileen Weatman and Marguerite Bateman.
Friends are invited to Bettie’s Life Celebration on Saturday, October 2, 2010 from 4-8pm at the Moorings Bistro, 875 Harry S. Truman Parkway, Annapolis, Maryland 21401. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to an Animal Rescue Organization or to a charity of one’s choice. Arrangements by the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, Edgewater, Maryland.
