Elizabeth Mettam - Obituary

lizabeth Margaret "Libby" Mettam, 92, of Edgewater and formerly of Tampa, Fla., died of natural causes Oct. 29 at South River Health and Rehabilitation Center in Edgewater after a two-year illness. Mrs. Mettam was born June 19, 1915, in Baltimore where she graduated from Forest Park High School. From 1952 to 1960 she was a clerk at Nationwide Insurance Co. in Annapolis and then was a supervisor for Fireman's Fund Insurance Co. in Tampa, where she worked from 1961 to 1979. She was a member of Star Methodist Church in Baltimore and Trinity United Methodist Church in Annapolis and its Sunshine Circle women's group. She was active in Girl Scouts and enjoyed travel, reading and participating in a senior citizens group in Edgewater. In 1935 she married Thomas Boges Mettam, who died in 1970. Surviving are one daughter, Janice L. Purdy of Edgewater; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was the daughter of the late William Townsen Lee and Mary Rhode Lee. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Edgewater United Methodist Church. Arrangements are by Kalas Funeral Home in Edgewater.
