Elizabeth Owens Porter - Obituary

lizabeth Owens Porter, "Liz," a resident of Annapolis and Severna Park, MD since 2012 and previously of Washington, D.C., died on Wednesday, October 11, 2017, of natural causes. She was 106. Born August 2, 1911, in Washington, DC to the late Clarence Julian Owens and Marie Louise Kennedy Owens, she graduated from Western High School in Washington, DC. Liz spent most of her life as a homemaker. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Washington, DC, on the Board of Church Representatives of the National Center for Children and Families, and was a Girl Scout Leader. Liz enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, traveling, knitting, and reading. She was known for her delicious brownies, cooking and entertaining. She was preceded in death by her husband, of 64 years, Douglass M. Porter. Liz is survived by a son, Douglass Porter, Jr. and his wife Kathleen, of Durango, CO and Betsy Groves and her husband Bill, of Annapolis, MD; six grandchildren, Thomas Moran, Susan Moran Arrangio, Jennifer Moran Krepp, Carolyn Porter, Cynthia Hawkins and Cathleen Porter; and she had 19 great-grandchildren.
