lizabeth T. “Beth” Slikker, 87, a resident of Severna Park since 1962 died peacefully at Anne Arundel Medical Center on March 4, 2012. Beth was born on March 3, 1925 in Glendale, California to the late John Lee and Ruth Ellen (Albright) Taylor. Beth graduated from UNC @ Chapel Hill with degrees in Concert Piano, communications and history. Beth was a radio commentator in Asheville, NC and also taught piano for over 20 years. She worked as legislative aide to AA County Councilwoman Maureen Lamb for 12 years. Beth dedicated her life to supporting and promoting the arts, both inside and outside of the AA County public school system. She proactively worked for the enrichment of the arts in her community with the AA County Arts Foundation. Beth was active in local politics all of her life. She was founder and president of Community Talents, Inc.
Beth was married to the late Dirk R. Slikker Jr. and is survived by her two daughters, Connie Moxley of Chester, MD and Betsy Slikker of Pasadena, MD; one sister, Dorothy “Dot” Cardwell of California; three grandchildren, Lisa, JoAnna and Cory; 6 great-grandchildren: Caleb, Judah, Mayah, Joshua, Eli & Elijah.
A small private service will be held. A Memorial Service to honor Beth’s life is being planned, but the dates have not been established. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory are requested to your local cultural arts foundation.
