Elizabeth McCrone Tongue - Obituary

lizabeth Louise McCrone Tongue Elizabeth “Betty” Tongue, a 13 year resident of McKenney, Virginia, and previously of Annapolis and Edgewater, died on November 29th, 2008 at Southside Regional Medical Center in Petersburg, VA of a heart attack. Betty was 81. Born August 17, 1927 in Baltimore, MD to John and Sue McCrone, Jr., she graduated in 1945 from Annapolis High School . Betty worked for her father at J.R. McCrone, Inc. as a Draftsman and Field Surveyor for several years before she married Henry M. Tongue in April of 1948. Betty was a current member of Maranatha Assembly of God Church in McKenney, Virginia. Her interests included teaching children in Bible clubs in her home as well as at church. Betty and her husband also took a chapel on wheels into neighborhoods and county fairs teaching children about Jesus. Betty was preceded in death by her husband Henry McPherson Tongue, III, who passed away in May of 1999, she is also survived by her daughters, Rhonda L. Bailey of Roanoke, VA, Barbara S. Kaczmarek of Glen Heights, Texas, Shirley A. Ruppert of McKenney, Virginia and Elizabeth M. Bryan of Jacksonville, Florida. Betty was the loving grandmother of 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Friends are invited to Betty's Life Celebration on Wednesday December 3, 2008 from 10am until time of funeral service begins at 11am at the George P.
