Elizabeth Lewis Wilson - Obituary

E

lizabeth Lewis “Bette” Wilson, 80, a resident of Annapolis for over 50 years, passed away on February 28, 2022. Bette was born April 14, 1941, in Camden, New Jersey to the late Sidney and Adele Lewis who lived in Haddonfield, New Jersey. Bette spent most of her professional career working for the Maryland General Assembly House of Delegates in downtown Annapolis, primarily as executive secretary to the House Minority Leader, but her daily interaction with the public, lobbyists, and legislators endeared her to all those who knew her which kept her busy working with the State Senate, the Maryland Department of Planning, the Maryland Energy Administration and the Anne Arundel County Department of Health. A gifted life-long artist, Bette enjoyed pen and ink drawing, large-scale acrylic painting and was a talented watercolor artist who had a few framed works of her own in her home alongside those of her dear friend and fellow artist Ann Dax. Bette was also a certified Master Gardener with a tremendous sense of humor, who enjoyed living by the water, gardening, walking her dogs, and spending time with her friends and neighbors at her home in Annapolis, at local restaurants, and as a member of the Fleet Reserve Club. Widowed since 2008, after 36 years of marriage to late husband Jack Wilson, Bette was lucky to have found love twice in her life and enjoyed spending the last four and a half years with boyfriend Ernie LaPlanche who brought lots of love and laughter into each day they were together. She is survived by her only son, David Lewis Wilson of Gurnee, IL., nephew, Michael McHenry of Hatfield, PA, and niece Mare McHenry of Philadelphia, PA, and three grandchildren, Chase, Jacqueline, and Paige. Family and friends may visit on Sunday, April 10, 2022 from 5pm to 8pm in the Kalas Funeral Home and Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Rd, Edgewater, MD 21037. A graveside service will be held on Monday, April 11, 2022 at 10am in the Crownsville Veterans Cemetery, 1122 Sunrise Beach Rd, Crownsville, MD 21032.
