lsie May G. Nacke (MeMaw) died on March 17, 2008 of cancer after a one-month illness. She had been a resident of Mayo for over 40 years. She previously lived in Adelphi, MD. Mrs. Nacke was born on December 19, 1916 in Washington, DC and was the daughter of the late William and Sadie Halley. She was forced to quit high school in the 10th grade during the Depression. She went to work at Woolworth's 5&10 Store. In 1942, she went to work for the Navy as a GS-1 clerk typist and worked her way up to a Contract Specialist Supervisory Contract Negotiator at the Naval Ordnance Lab. She was a member of the 1st Baptist Church of New Carrollton, MD; The American Indian Intertribal Cultural Organization; Nause-Waibash Band of Indians, and Women of the Moose. Mrs. Nacke enjoyed gardening, canning, knitting, entertaining, and playing with her grand and great-grand children. In 1953, she married Edwin G. Nacke who died in 1989. She is survived by her son, Daniel L. Gray of Edgewater, and her daughters, Cecelia Rinehart of Mayo, and Elenora Musgrove of Delaware, Maryland. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 26 great-children, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Friends are invited to MeMaw's Life Celebration at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD on Friday, March 21, at 11:00 AM. Internment is private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Chesapeake, 445 Defense Highway, Annapolis, MD 21401.
