Elvera Williams - Obituary

lvera Williams, 69, was born on April 17, 1941 in New Orleans, LA to the late Rachel Johnson and William Raymond Washington Sr. She began her education in the New Orleans public school system and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School. On April 5, 1963 she married Claude Williams and from that union came two children: Terron Antonio and Anjouell Marie Williams (Hemsley). She loved were sewing, arts and crafts and most importantly she loved sharing the Word of God with others. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband Claude, her two children; Terron and Anjouell. Her grandchildren: Jazlynn, David, Donte, and Deboryana Hemsley. Sisters: Olga Magee, Yvette Tramontano and brother Lester (Whop) Washington. Also survived by a host of nephews, nieces, friends, and church of Christ brothers and sisters. She was preceded in death by sister Ruby Phillips and brother William Raymond Washington, Jr. After months of health struggles, she went to meet our Lord on May 3, 2010. Relatives and friends are invited to Mrs. Williams' Life Celebration at Oxon Hill Church of Christ, 4201 Brinkley Rd., Temple Hills, MD on Saturday, May 8, 2010 from 10am until time of service at 11am. Interment Arlington National Cemetery on Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at 9am. Please meet at the administration building at Arlington National Cemetery no later than 8:30 am. In lieu of flowers, please make donations for the "Handicapped Bathroom at the Oxon Hill Church of Christ.
