Elvira Rebecca Bagares - Obituary

lvira Rebecca Bagares, 92, of Lothian, MD, and previously of Alexandria, VA passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2020. Elvira was born in the Philippines on December 27, 1927, to the late Francisco and Melchora Bagares. After receiving her bachelor’s degree, she immigrated to the United States in the 1950s. Elvira worked as an administrator for the International Monetary Fund in Washington, DC until she retired in 1986. Elvira traveled the world, was an avid photographer and enjoyed taking pictures of both people and places. Elvira spent her retirement years enjoying being a grand and great grandmother and was known and loved as “Grandmom” to many that knew her. In addition to her parents, Elvira was preceded in death by her three siblings. Elvira is survived by her son, David Line, and his wife, Sharon; one niece and nephew; three grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren with one on the way. Friends are invited to celebrate Elvira's life on Friday, October 2, 2020, from 4 to 6 pm at the Kalas Funeral Home and Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, Maryland.
