Emily I. Roszak - Obituary

n Tuesday, August 4, 2020, Emily I Roszak, age 96, passed away on her birthday at her residence in Temple Hills, MD. She was a resident of Temple Hills for the past 56 years. Emily was born on August 4, 1924 in Scarboro, WV to Michael and Natalie Ignatowicz. She worked for the Naval Research Laboratory as well as being a mother and homemaker to her five daughters. Emily was a devout Catholic who was a long time member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, she had a love for music and dance, she enjoyed spending time with her family, and was an avid reader. She was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands, Howard J. Balacek who died in 1957, and Joseph R. Roszak who died in 2003, her granddaughter, Christie Marie Stepura who died in 1987, her sisters, Anne Le Doux and Mary Chanas. She is survived by her daughters; Barbara (Stan) Stepura of White Plains, MD, Joan Balacek of Fairfax, VA, Katherine (Jim) Dennis of Venice, CA, Patricia Sondrol of Marina del Ray, CA and Susan (Bob) Steinberg of Manhattan Beach, CA; her grandchildren, Dennis Stepura, Evan Alan and Dylan Robert Steinberg; her brother-in-law, Charles Roszak and her significant other, Andy Timchalk. A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 7, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at Resurrection Cemetery, 8000 Woodyard Road, Clinton, MD.
